A Prayer for Uncertainty

A poem and a prayer for those facing an uncertain future and trying to find the way forward. Let us pray:

Lord, today is another day of uncertainty in the midst of a year of uncertainty, and some of us are hopeful, and some of us are downcast, and almost all of us are confused. Nevertheless, Lord we pray:

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Lord, our times and our destiny are in your hands, and you promise us that you will never leave us or forsake us, because neither height nor depth nor life nor death nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from your Love. So Lord we pray:

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Lord, for those of us who are comfortable and joyful, help us to share that comfort and joy with others. For those of us who are anxious and afraid, surround us with people who care for us to lean on. Because Lord we pray:

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Lord, some of us have loved ones who are sick and suffering. Comfort them. Some of us have loved ones who live in danger and uncertainty. Protect them. Some of us are sick and hurting, emotionally and physically. Heal us. And all of us need your guidance and hope to show us the Way. And thus Lord we pray:

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

This is a bunch of incoherent babble to make us think hard about our incredible love affair with the God of the universe, our astounding infidelities against God, and God's incredible grace to heal and restore us through Christ.
